almost 50

The year 2012 is the year I will turn 50 years old.  Wow!  This is a good year for huge life-evaluation!  I'm half way to the end of this mortal probation; unless I live longer that 100.  What is in store for my life in the next 10, 20, 50 years?
This is a time for change as the "empty nester" years are soon approaching.  In 2 1/2 years my youngest son will be graduated from High School and heading out into the world, leaving our home empty.  My dear husband, Russ will still have about 10-15 years before retirement.
I haven't had a professional career since my first child was born 23 years ago.  What to do?  The options are endless.  There is no doubt that I will go back to school.  But, do I renew my teaching certificate and teach elementary school again for 15 more years, or do I pursue something new?  Decisions, Decisions.

Christmas Tree

Our Christmas tree is 23 years old and still very beautiful.  Russ is doing a great job putting it together.  If only the lights were that easy.  That might be something for another day.  We have to be in a good mood to put lights on the tree. :)   Merry Christmas everyone.

Thanksgiving 2011

So thankful for friends and family to spend Thanksgiving with.  We had a great day with many people, food, games and pie! I'm greatful that it isn't illegal to eat 5 pieces of pie on Thanksgiving.

RIBBON QUILT INFORMATION
Ribbon count
Each person’s ribbon collections are different. If there are quite a few longer streamers  then fewer are needed. If you have mostly class ribbons then more are needed. If you have MORE  ribbons than needed it’s great to send them. ALL UNUSED RIBBONS ARE RETURNED!

***If there are important ribbons that you want to make sure I use please bag them separately in the box and label it.

Colors
The design of the quilt will be determined by the colors of the ribbons.  It works best with a minimum of four colors. First through fourth look great (blue, red, yellow and white). If you have other colors you want included that’s fine! Some of your best memories can be from a sixth place! If you have plenty of top placings don’t send the lower ones unless they are of particular importance and need to be included.
TYPE
Choose whether you would like a wall hanging that will not be backed with flannel or a quilt that will have batting and flannel back.
